Recommended System Specs
Windows 10 Professional – 64 Bit (Fully current on Windows Updates)
Intel Core i7 / i9 8th Gen or newer. (Avoid AMD CPUs) Performance CPUs recommended are i7 8086 (6 core) / i7 9700 (8 core) or better.
CPU Performance scales quite well with SUM3D/MillBox. Higher core counts/thread counts mean that more operations can be calculated at a time.
Note: It is advised to avoid CPUs designed for Ultra-low power (IE: i7-7660U) that are typically found in notebooks or laptops. These processors perform significantly slower than their high performance counterparts. While they can still operate the CAM just fine, noticeable differences exist between the two different types of processors.
AMD processors are not recommended unless you are considering Threadripper CPUs, or later generations. We have found in limited testing the AMD Threadripper CPUs (higher core counts) yield good results, but we have not fully tested this new line of hardware, therefore we cannot recommend for or against this particular line of products. If you choose to buy an AMD processor – do so at your own risk.
16GB+ RAM or more
Nvidia GT/Quadro series graphics card with at least 2GB or more of dedicated video memory (Not Shared/ Dynamic Memory – Avoid AMD / ATI graphics cards)
HDD Size is discretionary based on how many STL files and Job Files will be stored / backed up on the machine. SSD Hard Drives (Solid State) will help read / write times significantly – Recommend 500GB size or larger.
Highly recommend M.2 Hard Drives that boost read/write times significantly.
19″+ with Native Resolution of 1920×1080 Pixels or higher.
DVD-ROM
Although we try to keep our software white-listed with major AV / Security software companies but sometimes these may quarantine pertinent .DLL / .ini files and this causes issues in the CAM. If you are in an environment that requires A/V or Security Software, please ensure that the installation directory of SUM3D / Millbox are on the exclusion list as well as the .exe files (CAMWINC.exe, CAMWIN.exe, millbox.exe)
PLEASE NOTE: Due to licensing requirements, MillBox DOES NOT support Virtual Machines (VMs) or RDP (Remote Desktop Protocols)
Comfort Module
Creating Sintering Stabilizers on your parts during nesting can prevent warping of parts and is crucial to maintaining uniform shrinkage during the sintering process.
MillBox allows you to choose between 6 different types of standard bridge stabilizers. Each stabilizer has its own structure that adapts to the type of object requiring support. Some stabilizers are material-specific.
MillBox also supports the use of custom designed stabilizers if desired.
Advanced Module
This feature allows you to make adjustments on Sintering Stabilizer Bases to provide more surface area during sintering and to mitigate the likelihood of tipping during this process.
If the center stabilizer bar does not line up with the restoration, you can simply drag it up or down along the Z axis. This will minimize the likelihood of part distortion during the sintering phase.
